Ten years ago, in April 2016, our first guests crossed the threshold of our hotel.
Just like now, it was Easter, and just like now, we couldn’t wait for the Easter breakfast, decorating and sprucing up the newly opened rooms.
Not many of you know this, but the first guests could only check in at part of Building A (the restaurant and spa side). The remaining parts were still being cleaned up after the construction work.
The reception was located where the Stained Glass Room is now, and the swimming pool was being finished and decorated.
And before the Hotel Buczyński **** Medical & SPA emerged from the dust, mud and concrete, there stood a building at 2 Bolesława Prusa Street which, over the years, had changed its name and owners several times.
Let’s start with the year 1909 – the Glückauf Guesthouse (Logierhaus Glückauf / Haus Glückauf – ‘God’s blessing’). The guesthouse operated until around 1934. The owner of the property was Mrs E. Glaeser. Historical sources indicate that the building was demolished in the post-war period, and the Victoria Guesthouse was built in its place.
Unfortunately, historical data on the Victoria Guesthouse is very scarce. In fact, we have no information whatsoever regarding the period during which it operated or its owners.
We do know, however, that the last guesthouse to operate on this site was the Leo II Guesthouse – it was purchased by the Buczyński family in 2000. Unfortunately, the building was in a deplorable state of repair, leading to the decision to demolish it completely.
In 2015, construction began on the Bczyński **** Medical & SPA, which welcomed its first guests in April 2016.
